Crystal Lagoons Island Resort moves forward01/28/2022
Crystal Lagoons Island Resort is a Public Access Lagoons™ development, also known as PAL ™ projects, in Arizona, that Crystal Lagoons develops in association with Mattel and Epic. The complex will also be home to the toy company’s first amusement park, Mattel Adventure Park.
The development should be ready by the end of 2022 for the Super Bowl to be held in February 2023. That is the reason why the construction of the project is advancing rapidly.
This is shown in a video published by the YouTube channel “My World”, in which the work’s progress of the complex is observed. It will have a 4.5-hectare man-made lagoon as a centerpiece, which anyone can access via a ticketed entry.
The project will also incorporate Mattel-branded experiences, including a Hot Wheels roller coaster and multiple go-kart experiences.
In addition, the resort will have a Thomas & Friends indoor theme park with the first life-sized Thomas the Tank Engine passenger train, as well as immersive branded F&B and experiential retail.
Furthermore, to the lagoon, the project will include 7 islands, each with their own theme, retail spaces, Fly and 4-D theaters, venue space, restaurants, a family entertainment center, amusement rides, office space, 600 plus hotel rooms and more.
“Leading players in their industries, like Mattel, join under the PAL™ projects to develop new business, because they have identified the model’s triumph worldwide and in the USA. In fact, in the American market Crystal Lagoons has had a meteoric success with its presence in Florida, Texas, California, Alabama, Georgia, Washington DC, and North and South Caroline, among other states”, explains Ivan Manzur, Senior Vice President of Sales de Crystal Lagoons US Corp.
“By partnering with Crystal Lagoons Island Resort, we will be offering new and immersive ways for families to experience classic brands like Hot Wheels, Thomas & Friends, and more.”, said Julie Freeland, senior director of global LBE at Mattel.
Arizona’s Crystal Lagoons project is the first in a comprehensive trade agreement signed with the events and entertainment multinational Epic to develop 16 PAL™ projects.
Super Bowl 2023
According to local press, the project is expected to receive 2 million visitors annually. This in turn will generate significant revenue to support local businesses and the state as a whole. Upon completion, the Crystal Lagoons Island Resort is estimated to bring 1,800 net new jobs to Glendale.
The Crystal Lagoons Island Resort is planned as a single-phase development that is expected to open to the public in 2022 ahead of Glendale’s hosting of Super Bowl in 2023.
