Spain: Crystal Lagoons Alovera Beach Project Set to Become Largest Man-Made Beach in Europe

El Economista, Spain, has published a detailed article focused on Crystal Lagoons® project, known as Alovera Beach, in Guadalajara, Spain. It is set to be the largest man-made beach and crystalline lagoon on the continent.

Developed together with Grupo Rayet, the site totals 26 acres, and will be anchored by a 6-acre crystalline lagoon powered by Crystal Lagoons. The lagoon will be surrounded a 3.5-acre white sand beach.

The estimated influx of visitors could hover around 340,000 visitors a year, with peaks of 2,700 people a day during the summer months, yet initial calculations indicate that the facilities can accommodate up to 5,000 people simultaneously. Other amenities include a leisure park with a sailing school, pedal boats, kayaks and paddle surf, along with water slides, zip lines, restaurants and parking for a thousand vehicles.

Sustainability: How to stop water evaporation

The article shed light on the firm’s successful innovation and state of the art technology to reduce the evaporation of water to a minimum, which has been applied successfully in other parts of the world, including desert areas, such as Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Dakar (Senegal), as well as Thailand (Blue Tree Phuket, which will open this year) and Miami (Jungle Island).

Another feat highlighted is the lagoon’s extremely low use of energy: Crystal Lagoons amenities require only 2% of the energy needed by conventional swimming pool filtration systems, and use up to 100 times less chemicals than conventional swimming pool or drinking water treatment technologies.

Additionally, the lagoons ensure low water consumption, requiring up to 30 times less water than a golf course and 50% less water than is required by a park of the same.

Specially designed measuring systems and sensors continuously report the specific physico-chemical properties and other water quality parameters, through a telemetric platform operated from the CLCC, through the cloud. All the mechanical and hydraulic systems of the lagoons around the world are activated and controlled from the CLCC, allowing 24/7 online monitoring and operation, ensuring excellent water quality all year round.

All lagoons that use Crystal Lagoons technology around the world are monitored, controlled, and operated online from the Crystal Lagoons Control Center (CLCC).

The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) valued Crystal Lagoons at US$ 1,800 Million, although currently, those figures are thought to be far superior due to the explosive growth of its projects which are now present on al on five continents.

Crystal Lagoons is an international innovation company, founded by scientist Fernando Fischmann, which has developed a patent-protected technology that allows the construction and maintenance of unlimited-size clear water lagoons at very low costs.
