US: Rowlett Crystal Lagoons Mixed-Use Development Relaunched
The City of Rowlett’s plan to develop a world-class resort, hospitality, entertainment and conference center against the backdrop of Lake Ray Hubbard is back on track with a new development partner on board. The mixed-use development, in Texas, will include a 6.5-acre Crystal Lagoons® amenity.
Rowlett had previously been in locked in a contentious legal battle with its former development partners, Bayside Land Partners and Bayside District Partners LLC. The City and a new development team bought back land associated with the former Bayside project last week.
Rowlett also secured a new development partner, Sapphire Bay Land Holdings I LLC, allowing it to proceed with the city’s original vision for a massive mixed-use project south of Interstate 30 at Dalrock Road, bordering Lake Ray Hubbard. The parties on Thursday revealed the mixed-use project’s new name, Sapphire Bay.
Rowlett envisions Sapphire Bay as a national destination for businesses and vacationing families. The city and Sapphire Bay Land Holdings plan to create a destination amenitized with a Crystal Lagoons water feature, a world-class resort and conference center, a marina and a Surf and Beach Club.
Crystal Lagoons is an international innovation company, founded by scientist Fernando Fischmann, which has developed a patent-protected technology that allows the construction and maintenance of unlimited-size clear water lagoons at very low costs.
