Vietnam Is New Crystal Lagoons Market

Crystal Lagoons is to expand in Asia, namely Hanoi, Vietnam, where it has announced it is to build a 6.1 hectare artificial crystalline lagoon, the first of its kind in the country. The Crystal Lagoons® amenity will bring beach style lifestyle to the heart of Hanoi so that residents can not only enjoy the fresh air and nature, but also beach lifestyle on a daily basis. The real estate project, VinCity Ocean Park, is being developed by Crystal Lagoons together with the developers, Vingroup.

The following is a brief interview with Alastair Sinclair, Regional Director of Crystal Lagoons, published in Vietnam.

Can you name the most high profile lagoons that Crystal Lagoons has designed and constructed? What makes them become a “favorite place”?

San Alfonso del Mar, in Valparaiso, Chile, was the first of our lagoons to win the Guinness World Record for Largest Artificial Lagoon in the world, with a total surface area of 8 hectares. The project created such an increase in demand that the developer had to densify the project from 400 to 1,400 units.

Some of the other major projects that we have completed and are implementing include Epperson in Florida, USA, The Blyde in South Africa, Treasure Bay Bintan in Indonesia and Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum District 1 (MBRC), Dubai, UAE, an ultra-luxury project, with the world’s lowest population density in its category and, once completed, the lagoon will larger that the lagoon in San Alfonso del Mar, and will officially be the largest artificial lagoon in the world.

In your opinion, what makes saltwater become an “attraction” in your real estate projects and why do people all over the world wish to live close to largo bodies of water?

There are many famous cities in the world that have everything that people expect in terms of entertainment, but have no access to the sea. It’s great that we can bring people a relaxed beach experience right to the heart of the city without them having to travel.

Our lagoons, apart from guaranteeing absolute safety, they also offer other attractive activities including sports, gastronomy, and retail. These communities can begin to enjoy everything they love, all in one place, which transforms them into ideal spots to relax.

How does Crystal Lagoons make the water feel as natural as real sea water?

The color of the water and its overall look is due to a few factors relating to Crystal Lagoons system, beginning with the efficiency of our technology, which creates the waters transparency. This, combined with the sun rays, are the main components that provide the natural turquoise colour of the water.

However, Crystal Lagoons technology is a complete process. The sum of the parts creates a giant, low-cost crystalline lagoon. With systems such as our telemetry-controlled pulses and energy-efficient ultrasound filtration, our lagoons use up to 100 times fewer chemicals and only 2% of the energy required by traditional swimming pools. These factors allow us to reduce levels of water consumption, up to 30 times less than a golf course of the same size and 50% less than that required by a park of the same size.

This combined means our technology can create extremely clean, transparent water. The water in our lagoons are not only transparent, but less irritating than conventional swimming pools.

Crystal Lagoons recently confirmed that it is to build a 6.1 hectare lagoon, at VinCity Ocean Park. How long will it take for the company to complete the design and construction?

Crystal Lagoons will provide technical assistance during the design and construction phases. The design phase depends on the general plan, but it usually it takes about 4 months.

Once the design is completed and approved, the construction work can begin immediately. It takes an average of 12 months to finish if everything goes smoothly.

After 16 months of design and construction, our crystalline lagoons will look like beautiful turquoise water with white, sandy beaches, creating the idyllic beach paradise within the urban radius of Hanoi.

Crystal Lagoons is an international innovation company, founded by scientist Fernando Fischmann, which has developed a patent-protected technology that allows the construction and maintenance of unlimited-size clear water lagoons at very low costs.
