Frequently Asked Questions

1.General

Crystal Lagoons is a multinational company based in the U.S. that has developed and patented an innovative technology for creating and maintaining crystalline lagoons of unlimited size, with minimal water and energy use.

Lagoons powered by Crystal Lagoons® technology can be of any size and depth, use up to 100 times fewer chemicals than conventional pools, and consume only 2% of the energy required by traditional filtration systems. Beyond the technology, they offer a unique tropical environment with turquoise waters and white sand beaches, creating a waterfront setting and lifestyle that goes far beyond what traditional pools or water parks can provide.

Crystal Lagoons® technology is designed for a wide range of real estate developments, including master-planned communities, mixed-use projects, multifamily developments, resorts, and both private residential projects and Public Access Lagoons® destinations with ticketed access to the lagoon. However, the technology is not intended for individual private homes or backyard use.

2. Investment & Business Models

Crystal Lagoons® projects generate value in multiple ways. In real estate developments, they increase property value, accelerate sales velocity, and command waterfront premiums. Public Access Lagoons® projects create new revenue streams through ticketed access, events, retail, food and beverage, and water activities. Additionally, they attract foot traffic, boost surrounding commercial activity, and enhance the overall appeal and profitability of the destination.

Investing in a Crystal Lagoons® amenity adds significant value by transforming any location into a waterfront destination. The amenity drives demand, increases real estate prices and sales velocity, and attracts visitors year-round. It also creates new revenue opportunities through activities, events, and commercial offerings, while enhancing the overall appeal and competitiveness of the project.

Crystal Lagoons offers developers and investors technology licenses, not traditional franchises. Through these licensing agreements, partners gain access to the company’s patented technology, proprietary equipment, and technical expertise to develop large-scale crystalline lagoons anywhere in the world.

3. Functionality & Maintenance

Yes. Crystal Lagoons® amenities operate in a closed-circuit system, are filled only once, and require minimal water to compensate for evaporation, 40% less water than a park the same size and up to 33 times less than a golf course. The technology uses up to 100 times fewer chemicals and just 2% of the energy of traditional pool filtration systems. In some climates, rainwater accumulation can further offset water loss, making the lagoons an environmentally responsible solution.

Crystal Lagoons® technology uses a patented, low-energy filtration system combined with controlled pulses of micro-doses of additives to maintain water quality. This efficient system requires up to 100 times fewer chemicals than traditional pools and just 2% of the energy used by conventional filtration. Monitoring is done 24/7 through the Crystal Lagoons Control Center, ensuring optimal quality at all times.

Crystal Lagoons® amenities consume significantly less water than other amenities. Once filled, they operate in a closed-circuit system and only require water to compensate for evaporation. Thanks to an exclusive molecular film technology, water loss due to evaporation can be reduced by up to 50%. As a result, lagoons use 40% less water than a park of the same size and up to 33 times less water than an 18-hole golf course.

4. Implementation & Construction

Construction time varies depending on the project’s size, but in general, it can take between 8 and 12 months from planning to launch.

A suitable space, access to a water source, and the application of Crystal Lagoons® patented technology are needed. Our technical team evaluates each project to ensure feasibility.

The technology is highly adaptable and can be implemented in deserts, cold climates, urban settings, coastal areas, and regions with limited water availability.

5. Special Applications & Technology

Yes. Crystal Lagoons® technology has industrial applications, particularly as a sustainable cooling solution for data centers and other energy-intensive facilities. The Crystal Lagoons Eco-Heated Lagoons™ technology uses large bodies of water as thermal sinks to efficiently absorb and dissipate waste heat from industrial processes, significantly lowering the energy consumption and costs pertaining to cooling.

Yes, the lagoons allow for swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, diving, and other water activities in a safe and controlled environment.
