Crystalline lagoons with Crystal Lagoons® technology transform any site into a year-round entertainment hub with more than 125 activities that can be enjoyed in the lagoon or its surroundings. For this reason, they were the setting for two significant Aquathlons in projects in Thailand and Egypt.
In the case of Thailand, at the Blue Tree complex, located in the iconic tourist destination of Phuket and being the first Public Access Lagoon® development by Crystal Lagoons in Asia, the third edition of the Blue Tree Aquathlon took place. This traditional competition brought together families, children, youth, and adults in swimming and multi-sport racing circuits throughout the day.
This body of water has become one of the main attractions in Phuket, receiving over 38 million visitors annually. The crystalline lagoon is surrounded by white sands and, with the concept of an “entertaining beach,” serves as a venue for events, concerts, and themed parties and offers a variety of activities for families, from water slides to water play parks.
On the other hand, in Egypt, in Sokhna, at the luxurious and award-winning IL Monte Galala project, the IL Monte Galala Crystal Aquathlon, a significant swimming event, took place for the first time, featuring individual and relay races for professionals and enthusiasts of all ages, starting from 8 years old.
The event was held in the world’s first and largest crystalline lagoon with Crystal Lagoons® technology on top of a mountain, earning recognitions such as the African Property and Cityscape Global awards. It is worth noting that Egypt is the most successful market for Crystal Lagoons in the MENA region, with over 31 projects at different stages.
