Crystal Lagoons® largest crystalline lagoon in the United States, the recently inaugurated Lago Mar amenity in Texas City, has opened its doors to the general public and KHEA Radio station. The water amenity’s huge dimensions and unique beach life were highlighted by the radio program, which has been a huge sales success since it opened its doors to the public just a few weeks ago, with entrance tickets selling out a week in advance.
The limited-time event, known as “Summer Lagoonfest”, is a pop-up beach club at the 12-acre pure turquoise lagoon which will grant no-residents access to the white sand beaches and crystalline water will run through to September 13th.
The Lago Mar lagoon spans more than a quarter-mile from end to end and has more than a mile of shoreline, making it the largest Crystal Lagoons amenity in the U.S. in terms of length and water shoreline, and is equivalent in size to 50 Olympic swimming pools.
Lago Mar is also nearly six times larger than the first Crystal Lagoons amenity developed together with Land Tejas, known as Balmoral, located in Humble, Texas.
World’s top amenity
The 100-acre entertainment district is anchored by the lagoon, known as the world’s top amenity, and will include hotels, retail, and restaurants with the best sunset views in Texas.
The unique lagoon, as opposed to public beaches or lakes, offers a safe, controlled family-friendly environment. Due to the pandemic, the amenity is strictly enforcing that guests and staff follow state health protocols, including wearing masks and practicing social distancing, and has reduced admissions to under 30% of full capacity. Lago Mar’s administration is also implementing “lagoon breaks” to sanitize swim areas.
