The defense of its intellectual property is one of the key aspects of Crystal Lagoons. The multinational innovation company has over 2,900 patents in 180 countries, protecting its unique technology.
Due to its intensive focus on protecting its intellectual property and success in using the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) to patent its technology, Crystal Lagoons was invited to present at the international seminar “PCT y el patentamiento de chilenos en EE.UU.”. This event, organized by the National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI) and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), will also feature participation from U.S. intellectual property protection specialists.
Javiera de la Cerda, Senior Vice President of IP and R&D at Crystal Lagoons, will present the company’s success story. “We are very focused on protecting our patents and other intellectual property once it is registered. Therefore, we are careful to safeguard our intellectual property through different legal instruments and systems in each market and to research, monitor, and control our intellectual property rights worldwide”, explains De la Cerda.
The multinational innovation company has a Research and Development (R&D) department in charge of further developing its technology, products, systems, and processes. It also continuously works to protect the technology with new patents.
In the case of Crystal Lagoons, the patents cover not only the technology for building and operating large artificial lagoons but also the business model, the designs and layouts, the cleaning devices and systems, the sustainable methods and systems for maintaining and treating water, and the Public Access Lagoons® business model, among others.
