This time was the French website Le Dauphiné that highlighted the lagoon of this project. The San Alfonso de Mar crystalline lagoon was developed using Crystal Lagoons’ concept and technology. In fact, San Alfonso del Mar was the company’s first and most iconic project that made possible the successful exportation model of the company that nowadays is currently involved in more than 1.000 developments in 60 countries all over the world.

Crystal Lagoons developed and patented state-of-the-art technology that allows crystalline lagoons of unlimited sizes to be built and maintained at low costs, offering an idyllic beach lifestyle anywhere in the world.

This pioneering concept led the firm to the San Alfonso del Mar lagoon being certified as the Guinness World Record as the largest crystalline lagoon on the planet, a title that it kept until another lagoon by the company, in Egypt (Sharm El Sheik) took the award. It is currently the largest crystalline lagoon in the world.

Since San Alfonso del Mar was certified as the world’s greatest manmade lagoon in 2007, it became an international attraction that keeps raising the interest of myriad media worldwide.

In fact, just six months after the lagoon was certified by the World Record Guinness, there were more than 2.000 TV channels, newspapers and magazines visiting the lagoon, such as Wired, Discovery Channel, The Guardian, The Times, TV Channel Fuji Network Co, Corriere Della Sera, Stern Magazine, CNN, BBC, Süeddeutsche Zeitung, among many others.

The San Alfonso del Mar project includes a 20-acre crystalline lagoon, equivalent to 6,000 traditional pools, made possible only thanks to the technology created by the company, which has been patented in more than 190 countries. According to the Irish Examiner, this lagoon is ideal for water sports fanatics.

The most important advantages offered by Crystal Lagoons technology are its low construction and maintenance costs, the use of any type of water source and its low water consumption. Also stands out for its low water consumption, since it operates in a closed circuit, and it only needs to replace the water that is lost through evaporation.

In comparison, a 1-hectare lagoon consumes only 50% of the water required to maintain a park of the same size, and an average-sized lagoon consumes about 30 times less than a golf course.

Ascensions on Lake Travis marks the latest Public Access Lagoons® venture signed by Crystal Lagoons in Texas, adding to the multinational innovation company’s array of complexes across the state. 

The project’s standout feature is a sprawling 2.1-acre crystalline lagoon suitable for swimming and water sports. The lagoon will be the centerpiece of a high-end hotel development, solidifying the foothold of Crystal Lagoons in the hospitality industry. Notably, it will be the first Public Access Lagoons® project—also known as PAL® developmentsin Austin, promising a completely new and unique entertainment offering accessible to all through ticketed entry.

Around the world, the concept and technology of Crystal Lagoons® have become the leading sales attraction, positively impacting its commercial success. Despite the credit and real estate challenges in the current economic conditions, Crystal Lagoons projects continue to defy the market with very impressive sales figures, particularly in the United States. The rankings from real estate consulting firms RCLCO and John Burns on the best-selling master-planned communities once again demonstrated that crystalline lagoons are a powerful purchasing driver. SunterraMiradaWindsong Ranch, and Epperson secured prominent positions in 2023.

These projects ranked among the top 50 best-selling communitiesFlorida leads the ranking within the list, representing close to 40% of the sales for all top-ranked developments, followed by Texas with 37%. In both states, Crystal Lagoons has a significant presence.

In Texas, Sunterra stands out as a project that, even though the crystalline lagoon has not been built yet, serves as a commercial driver within the community, generating sales rates higher than the average, with a significant increase of 63% compared to 2022.
