Crystal Lagoons® largest crystalline lagoon in the United States, the recently inaugurated Lago Mar amenity in Texas City, has opened its doors to the general public. Fox News recently highlighted the firm’s latest lagoon, powered by a state-of-the-art, sustainable technology created by the Miami-based multinational water innovation firm.
The limited-time event, known as “Summer Lagoonfest”, is a pop-up beach club at the 12-acre pure turquoise lagoon. Access to the white sand beaches and crystalline water will run through to September 13th.
The Lago Mar lagoon spans more than a quarter-mile from end to end and has more than a mile of shoreline, making it the largest Crystal Lagoons amenity in the U.S. in terms of length and water shoreline. Lago Mar is nearly six times larger than the first Crystal Lagoons amenity developed together with Land Tejas, known as Balmoral, located in Humble.
Due to the pandemic, the lagoon is strictly enforcing that guests and staff follow state health protocols, including wearing masks and practicing social distancing, and has reduced admissions to under 30% of full capacity. Lago Mar’s administration is also implementing “lagoon breaks” to sanitize swim areas.
PAL business model
However, work on future phases continues, and the amenity will include hotels, condo buildings, retail, dining and more, so as to become a Public Access Lagoon™, also known as PAL™.
An event center with a beachfront event lawn for corporate events, weddings, and concerts is also in the plans.
This PAL business model will grant nonresidents access via ticketed entry to a separate white sand beach, access to the lagoon while also providing a water sports facility including kayaks, paddleboards, and small sailboats.
